Walter F. Normandin, 86 of Leominster died June 4, 2017, in The Golden Living Center, Fitchburg.
Walter was born on July 2, 1930 in Leominster MA, the son of Hyginne and Selima (Brosseau) Normandin. He attended Leominster schools. He retired in 1992 from the Lakso Company of Leominster.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lillian (Thibodeau) Normandin; his children: Linda and Doug Brailey of Fitchburg, Don and Tricia Normandin of Fitchburg, Jane and Mike Fry of Lakewood, Washington & Rick and Jan Normandin of Lowell; 8 grandchildren: Tracey, Melissa, Karen, Kristen, Shannon, Danny, Timmy and Alex; 8 great-grandchildren: Corey, Ashley, Andrew, Nicole, Finn, Liam, Connor and Colby.
He also leaves 2 brothers, Gene Normandin and Jim Normandin, both of Lunenburg, brother-in-law Joe Nault of Fitchburg, brother-in-law Dante Gentile and sister-in-law Myrna Normandin, both of Leominster; and many nieces and nephews.
Walter was pre-deceased by a grandson Douglas Brailey Jr.; brothers John, Emile, Adolf “Duffy”, Ron, and Roger; sisters, Rita Gentile, Ann Muse, and Janet Nault.
Walter was a communicant at St. Cecilia’s Parish in Leominster.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Walter’s name may be made to the St. Cecilia’s Restoration Fund, 170 Mechanic St., Leominster, MA 01453.
The family would like to express its thanks to the staff at The Golden Living Center of Fitchburg for their care of Walter during his stay.
Calling hours are Thursday, June 8, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM in Simard Funeral Home, 14 Walker St., Leominster.
The funeral Mass will be held Friday, June 9, at 11:00 AM in St. Cecilia's Church, 180 Mechanic St., Leominster. Burial will be private.
