GARDNER- Walter Sawicki, 98, of Gardner, died Friday, August 26, in his home, after an illness.
Mr. Sawicki was born July 6, 1918, in Phillipston, son of the late Adam and Rosalia Sawicki. He is a United States Navy veteran having served 28 months in the South Pacific. He was a founding member of the R.P. Warfield Post 373 American Legion of Baldwinville, the Gardner VFW Post 905, and the PACC.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Anna Marie (Hajdukiewicz) Sawicki; one brother, Joseph Sawicki of Gardner; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Alexander, Stanley, and Chester Sawicki, and three
sisters, Charlotte “Tessie” Ducharme, Joanna Hetnik, and Mary Krymowski.
Calling hours are Monday, August 29, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. in Poliks Funeral Home 431 Pleasant St., Gardner.
The Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, August 30, at 10:00 A.M. in Holy Spirit Church, 50 Lovewell St., Gardner. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
