GARDNER – Wanda (Sylwestrzak) Renes, 93, of Gardner died Friday, March 13, 2015 at home.
Wanda was born February 6, 1922 in Gardner, one of eight children born to polish immigrants John and Mary (Wieczorek) Sylwestrzak.
Wanda graduated from Gardner High School in 1940. She worked for 25 years at Simplex Time Recorder Company in the personnel department, retiring in 1977.
He husband Antone, an optometrist, passed away in July of 2003.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Ann Miganowicz; a grandson Stefan Miganowicz; a sister in-law, Mary Piontek of Gardner and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by, a brother, Thomas Sylwestrzak and by 6 sisters, Irene Boccardy, Jean Kubicki, Vera Kuczka, Helen St. John, Clara Grzejka and Genevieve Aquino.
Wanda was a communicant of St. Joseph's Polish Church in Gardner where she belonged to the Holy Rosary Sodality.
Among her hobbies were golfing at Oak Hill Country Club and watching the Patriots. Due to the living kindness of her family and caregivers, Wanda was able to remain in her home for several years.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 in St. Joseph's Church, 358 Pleasant St., Gardner. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Gardner at a later date.
A calling hour will be Tuesday, March 17, 2015 from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at Poliks Funeral Home, 431 Pleasant St., Gardner.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Gardner Visiting Nursing Association, 34 Pearly Lane, Gardner, MA 01440 or to the House of Peace and Education, Inc., 20 Barthel Ave., Gardner, MA 01440.
