ATHOL - Warren Coleman Wilson, 79, of 60 Ward Street, Athol, died on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at the Quabbin Valley Healthcare in Athol.
Warren was born in Montague on October 2, 1931, the son of the late Rodney S. and the late Millicent (Coleman) Wilson. He resided in Athol all of his life and graduated from Athol High School with the class of 1949. Mr. Wilson served during the Korean War in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956, receiving the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He worked for the Tyler Mill many years ago then worked for the former Union Twist Drill Company in Athol as a Cost Estimator. Upon the company's closing in the late 1980s, Warren worked for the Springfield Union Twist Drill through the Union Butterfield for several years.
Mr. Wilson was a member of the Athol Congregational Church, former member of STEBS and was proudly a 33rd Degree of the Masons in Athol. He was a Citizen’s Advocate and enjoyed visiting residents and patients of the Quabbin Valley Healthcare. Warren enjoyed Masonry and was passionate about sports. He played hockey when he was younger and was a fan of the Boston Bruins and the Red Sox.
He leaves his wife of over forty years, Mary Florence (Logan) Wilson of Athol; two step daughters, Theresa M. Lozada and her husband Carlos of Miami, FL, Celeste M. Reppucci and her husband Richard of Phillipston; two step sons, Paul J. Mallette and his wife Rosemarie of Athol, Peter J. Mallette and his wife Priscilla of Royalston; three sisters, Linda Wilson of Florida, Carolyn Wright and her husband Charles of Canaseraga, NY, Janet Atherton of Fitchburg; one brother, John Wilson and his wife Cheryl of Conway; four grandchildren, Dr. Jason Mallette of Pawtucket, RI, Nicole Mallette of Newbern, NC, Andrea Reppucci of Boston, Benjamin Reppucci of Phillipston; also many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Jeannie Oja and Barbara Cox.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Road, Orange. Burial will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery, Athol.
There are no calling hours.
