ORANGE - Wayne L DeJackome, 77 of 156 Pleasant St., Orange, died Tuesday, July 15, 2008 in the Athol Memorial Hospital, Athol. He was born in Orange, on October 29, 1930, the son of the late Leopold and the late Myrtle (Kilhart) DeJackome. Wayne was a life long resident of Orange and graduated from Orange High School in 1948. He married the late Margaret V. Cromp on August 2, 1952, who predeceased him on July 5, 2008. Wayne served in the Army National Guard from 1950 to 1953, he was a member of the O. H. S. Alumni having recently attended the 125th Reunion as well as his 60th Class Reunion. He was a lifetime member of the Athol-Orange Elks Club. He started his career as a meat cutter at the former Leavitt's Market, working at Trifilo's Market, IGA and retiring from Victory Markets in 1994. Wayne lived his life to the fullest. He loved traveling, surfing the internet, and especially the Boston Red Sox, having attended the 1st game of the 2007 World Series. But above all, he enjoyed being with his family. He leaves four daughters: Susan P. Swan and her husband Dennis T. of Worcester, Connie A. Zani and her husband Joseph F. of Phillipston, Cindy-Lou Rivers and her husband James L. of Orange, Lisa M. Aldrich and her husband Chris of Orange; eight grandchildren, Nerissa S. Lomartire and her husband Marc of Millbury, Shalyn M. Swan of Southbridge, Jordan D. Swan of Worcester; Michael W. Zani and his wife Rachael of Athol; Rachel L. Burke and her husband Daniel of Athol; Logan A. Rivers of Orange; Alexander C. Aldrich of Orange; Eric W. Aldrich of Orange; five great grandchildren, Christopher J. Lomartire; Macayla A. Lomartire; Isabella A. Zani; Julia N. Zani and Ava L. Burke; one brother: Lynn DeJackome and his wife Peggy of Orange; one sister: Norma Ball and her husband James of Orange; one sister-in-law Jeannette DeJackome of Orange and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Bernard DeJackome and his sister Gloria DeJackome. At the request of the family, funeral services will be private. There are no calling hours.
