Wayne A. Wheeler

ATHOL - Wayne A. Wheeler, 68, of 170 North Orange Road, Athol, died Saturday, October 15, 2011 at the Quabbin Valley Healthcare in Athol surrounded by his family. He was born in North Adams on August 20, 1943, the son of the late Deliverance and the late Grace (Bowen) Wheeler of Readsboro.  Mr. Wheeler was employed by Erving Paper Mill for many years.  He was a member of the Athol American Legion Post No. 102 and the Franco American Naturalization Club in Athol.  Wayne lived in New Hampshire before moving to Athol several years ago and he loved to go to the grocery store for his family. He leaves his wife of forty-six years Dorothy (Dodge) Wheeler; one daughter, Laura Wheeler and her husband Bill of Athol; one son, Lawrence Wheeler of Mebanen, NC; one sister, Iona Chaquette of Florida; three brothers, Don Wheeler of Readsboro, VT, Carl Wheeler of Keene, NH, Dale Wheeler of Keene, NH; five grandchildren, Jessica, Brittanie, Katie, Kavan, Kyrsten; two great grandchildren, Shannyn and Cayden; his good friend of many years, Richard Hurtle; one aunt, June Paradise of Athol; many nieces, nephews, and his beloved dog and faithful companion, Cookie. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. in the Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Road, Orange.  Burial will follow at Silver Lake Cemetery in Athol. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, October 20, 2011 from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to the Athol American Legion Post No. 102, 325 Pequoig Ave., Athol 01331 or to the Franco American Naturalization Club, 592 South St., Athol, MA 01331 or to a charity of one's choice. $(document).ready(function(){ });
