LUNENBURG- William J. Murphy, 61, of Lunenburg, died suddenly, Wednesday, February 10, 2016.
Bill was born September 21, 1954, in Fitchburg, son of the late William T. Murphy and the late Helen M. (Crawford) Murphy. He attended Sacred Heart School, Saint Bernard’s Central Catholic High School, and Notre Dame Preparatory School. Bill lived in California for 17 years before returning to Massachusetts. He was the property manager at Whalom Park for many years.
Bill will be remembered for his warmth, his fun loving nature, his sense of humor, and his love of music. He enjoyed skiing, photography, the ocean, mountains, paddle boating on Whalom Lake, his music collection, his man cave, and most of all spending time with his wife and son.
Bill leaves his wife with whom he has shared the past 34 years with, Jennifer (Wyatt) Murphy; his son, Shane Murphy; his sister, MaryAnn Murphy of Townsend; two brothers, Bernard and Michael McGuirk, both of Fitchburg; his uncle, Daniel Murphy of Clinton; his cousins, Harry, Paul, Gregory, Thomas, and Margaret Hakala, and Gertrude Riley; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his aunt, Gertrude Crawford Hakala, and several other aunts and uncles.
Calling hours are Friday, February 12, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. in Simard Funeral Home, 14 Walker St., Leominster.
The funeral will be held Saturday, February 13, at 9:30 A.M. at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 1400 Main St., Leominster. Burial will follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery.
