Leominster- William D. Pollock, 94, of Leominster passed away on Wednesday December 4, 2013in
Health Alliance Leominster Hospital following a short illness. He was born on November 7, 1919, one of
ten children to Edward and Barbara (Milligan) Pollock.
William grew up in Leominster and upon graduation entered into the U.S. Navy on October 31, 1942,
where he served during WW II as a Seaman First Class. He was honorably discharged on November 12,
1945. He worked as a paper maker for Crocker Paper Co. #10 Mill in Fitchburg, and continued on to
work for Weyerhauser Paper Co. and James River Paper Co. in Fitchburg where he retired in 1981.
William was a member of St. Cecilia’s Church, and a member of the Leominster Senior Center. He
enjoyed playing cards, traveling, golfing, bowling, and playing pool.
William is survived by his wife of 63 years, Doris M. Pollock of Leominster, two sons; David Pollock
and Thomas Pollock, both of Leominster, one daughter; Judith Ann Phelps of Ashburnham, seven
grandchildren; Michael Pollock, Mathew Pollock, Ryan Pollock, Sean Pollock, Andrew Pollock, Jonathan
Pollock, and Jason Phelps, three sisters; Rose Lahti, Marylyn McCaissey, and Mary LaCouture, and many
nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by two brothers and four sisters.
Calling hours will be held from the Simard Funeral Home 14 Walker Street, Leominster on Friday
December 6, 2013 from 5:00pm-7:00pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Cecilia’s Church
180 Mechanic St, Leominster on Saturday December 7, 2013 at 12:00pm. Burial with military honors will
follow in St. Cecilia’s Cemetery, Leominster.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations in William’s name be made to the: St. Cecilia’s
Restoration Fund 180 Mechanic St. Leominster, MA 01453 or may be left at the funeral home.
