William F. Sanderson, III
Templeton – William F. Sanderson, III, 66, of 140 South Road, died Saturday, November 5, 2011 at the Leominster Hospital.
Bill was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, July 5, 1945 on his father’s 20th birthday, the son of William F. and Florence (Morrow) Sanderson, Jr. He grew up in Athol where he lived for many years, graduating from Athol High School in 1963 and since 1991 has resided in Templeton. He worked for the L.S. Starrett Company for many years, owned and operated the former Maroni’s Restaurant for a few years, and worked for the Athol Royalston Regional School District from 1982 until his retirement in 2010.
Bill was a member of the Petersham Gun Club, the Gardner Fish and Game Club, and the Leominster Rod and Gun Club. He loved shooting skeet, trap and black powder. He took cooking classes at the Boston Culinary Arts, Franklin County Technical School and Montachusett Technical School. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, enjoyed home brewing, wine, beer and liquors, playing golf, watching football, especially the New England Patriots. He enjoyed cooking at the Petersham Gun Club events and the Red Onion in Otter River. He always had a great sense of humor, loved kids and enjoyed teasing them. Bill especially loved spending time with his many friends and family.
He leaves his longtime companion, Elise LaPlante; a son, William Sanderson and his wife Angella of Massachusetts; a daughter, Susan Pratt and her husband Christopher of Greenfield; his step-mother Jennie Sanderson of Orange; sisters and brothers, Peg Calcari of Athol and Kathy Provost of Macon, GA, George Lachowetz of Baton Rouge, LA, Lee Sanderson of Athol, Lloyd Sanderson of Orange, Lionel Sanderson and Lyn Johnson, both of Warwick and Lisa Sanderson of Leominster. He also leaves his dog Kandy.
A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held Saturday, November 12, 2011 from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Petersham Gun Club, Nelson Road,
Petersham, MA. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made in Bill’s memory to the Petersham Gun Club, the Annual Children’s Fishing Derby, P.O. Box 812, Petersham, MA 01366.
