LEOMINSTER-----William Carl Voedisch Jr---W1UD--- 78 of Leominster died Saturday Morning January 1, 2011 at home after an illness. He was born January 8, 1932 in Fitchburg the son of the late William Carl Voedisch Sr and Margaret Ruth (Hanscom) Voedisch and came to Leominster many years ago. He leaves his three sons, Robert W. Voedisch of Leominster, Mark C. Voedisch of Portland Maine and Eric Voedisch and his wife Laurie of Leominster, his daughter Heidi Voedisch and husband Gerald of West Boylston. Eight grandchildren, Jessica Chilamunah, Victoria Voedisch, Andrea Voedisch, Nicholas Voedisch, Angela Voedisch and Hope Voedisch,Jillian Hildbrand and Joseph Fornier. He was predeceased by his loving wife Patricia Irene (Lucier) Voedisch in June of 2008 and a daughter Cheryl-Anne Voedisch in October of 1975 and two sisters,Barbara McCrann and Grace Tarbell,and a grandson Mathew Robert Voedisch. Mr Voedisch was the Owner and Operator of Imperial Television and Radio Service in Leominster since 1954.he graduated from Leominster High School in 1949 and attended Fitchburg State College. He was a member of St Marks Episcopal Church in Leominster and served on the Ways and Means Committee and Cable Commission for the City of Leominster, He was also a Communications Expert for FEMAand a life member of ARRL. He was a Ham Radio operator known as W1UD, and also enjoyed woodworking and photography. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict entering the service December 11, 1952 and was honorably discharged November 5,1954 attaining the rank of Corporal. He received the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. A funeral service will be held on Thursday January 6,2011 from Simard Funeral Home 14 Walker St Leominster with an 11:30 am Service in St Marks Episcopal Church 60 West St Leominster. Burial with military honors will be at a later date in Winchendon Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Thursday morning January 6,2011 are from 9:30 AM-11AM.
