PHILLIPSTON - William Lord White, 75, of 270 Royalston Road, Phillipston, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at his home.
William was born in Gardner on March 4, 1936, the son of the late William H. and the late Ella M. (Lord) White. He was raised and educated in Gardner and enlisted in the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War from 1958 until his honorable discharge in 1964. Mr. White resided in Baldwinville upon his marriage to Carolyn E. (Moffitt) for a few years before settling in Phillipston where he has owned and operated Laushua's Auto Wrecking since the mid 1960's. He attended Anna Maria College in Worcester and trained as a boiler fireman and worked for Wheetabix in Clinton for over twenty years until his retirement. Mr. White was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Church in South Royalston and donated often to local organizations and many charities. Besides being a mechanic, he had been a Jiu Jitsu instructor, and enjoyed fishing and hunting in his younger years and always enjoyed being outdoors. He will be greatly missed by many people.
He leaves two daughters, Cindy White of Phillipston, Sheri Belliveau of Owego, NY; three sons, Michael White of Las Vegas, NV, William Martin of Richmond, NH, Gene Martin of Anchor Point, AK; one sister, Dorothy LaFortune of Gardner; one brother, Arthur White of VA; twenty two grandchildren, twenty three great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife of twenty-five years, Carolyn E. White, in 1994; also by a son, Steve Martin; by a sister, Pauline Bruno; by his grandchild, William Martin, Jr.; and by his companion of fifteen years, Betty Sue Lamoureaux.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol. Burial will follow in Lower Cemetery, Phillipston.
Calling hours will be held Friday, April 29, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Fiske Funeral Home, 1356 Main Street, Athol.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to Our Lady Queen of Heaven Church, , 123 Main Street, Royalston, MA 01368.
