MARLBOROUGH – The Sisters of the Assumption mourn the loss of Sister Yvette R. Antaya, formerly known as Sr. Saint Paul-Martyr, who passed away at Marie Esther Health Center in Marlboro, MA on Saturday, December 2, 2017.
She was a native of Southbridge, MA, the daughter of the late Emelda (Chapdelaine) Antaya and the late Paul Antaya.
St. Yvette entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Assumption on January 31, 1941. Following her profession in 1943, she served in the ministry of education as a primary grade and junior high teacher in Glen Falls, NY; Barton, VT; Hudson Falls, NY; Northbridge, MA; Nasonville, RI; Meriden, CT; Southbridge and Salem, MA. She also served as principal, superior and treasurer. During her 74 years of religious life, Sr. Yvette volunteered her services as a cook and a nurse’s aide for four of those years. Her last assignment was in Brockton, MA where she was a local leader, treasurer and a valuable aide at Sacred Heart School.
Sr. Yvette is survived by the Sisters of the Assumption worldwide, the Sisters of St. Chretienne, the Sisters of St. Anne and Staff at Marie Esther Health Center, and many faithful friends.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of the Sisters of St. Anne, 720 Boston Post Rd East, Marlboro, MA. St. Yvette will be laid to rest in the East St. Cemetery, Petersham, MA.
