Yvonne A. (Blanchet) Byrne, 97. died Thursday, September 23, 2021 at the Alliance at Baldwinville, Baldwinville, MA after an illness. She was the wife of the late Sylvester J. "Jim" Byrne who died September 11, 1996. Yvonne leaves one older sister: Jeanne M. Bertoli of Geneva, Switzerland; three daughters: Marie Cumberledge and her husband Victor of N. Orange, Susan Byrne of E. Templeton and N.C. and Joanne Getchell and her husband James of Storrs, CT; daughter-in-law: Stacy Byrne of South Dennis, MA; brother-in-law: Richard Byrne and his wife Carol of Holbrook, MA, sister-in-law Mary Collins of Falmouth, MA; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and several grand nieces and grand nephews. She was predeceased by her son: Jim Byrne on October 13, 2013. She was born in New Bedford, on January 6, 1924 a daughter of the late Joseph O. and Yvonne L. (Coriveau) Blanchet. She graduated from Ursuline Academy in Stanstead Canada in 1942 and from the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Springfield in 1951. She was a registered nurse. She worked at the MCI Framingham Prison for 13 and 1/2 years before retiring in 1983. She was a member of Holy Cross Church in E. Templeton. At her request funeral services will be private and she will be buried in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Street, Gardner.
