LEOMINSTER- Yvonne L. (Fife) Dollard, 97, of Leominster, died Monday, April 24, in Leominster Hospital, after an illness.
She was born March 29, 1920, in Leominster, daughter of the late Leo and Dorilla (Hurtubise) Fife.
Her husband of 46 years, Joseph Noel Dollard, died in 1987. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Simmone Flaherty, Cecile Plette, Lauretta Kimball, and Juliette Rudnicky, and her brothers, Leo Fife and Robert Fife.
She leaves three sons, Roderick Dollard and his wife, Sally Legere, Dr. Wayne Dollard and his wife, Gini Toland, and Dr. Mark Dollard and his wife, Jeannine Paulk; grandsons, Jason Dollard, Todd Dollard, Mitchel Dollard, and Maxwell Dollard; granddaughter, Emerson Dollard; several nieces and nephews who she loved very much; sisters in law, Ernestine Amico, Arline Cormier, May Druen and Allen Druen.
Mrs. Dollard graduated from Leominster High School in 1939, where she was active in PTA and sports as captain of hockey, basketball, and softball. She was an active member of St. Cecilia's Parish, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Notre Dame PTA, and St. Bernard's PTA. She was also active in Little League and Babe Ruth baseball, helping to raise money on tag days to keep up the fields for the kids with so many other good people.
She will be remembered for her soups and zucchini breads that she made in the summer and winter with zucchini grown in people's gardens. She loved to bake and give her creations to others.
She was always active putting her children and family first and did a lot with them to keep them out of trouble.
Her favorite words were, "think positive and be kind to people. Treat people as you want them to treat you".
Mrs. Dollard and her family are so thankful to her doctors, Dr. Feinberg, Dr. Shelton, and Dr. Scornavacca, for taking such good care of her.
The funeral will be held Friday, April 28, at 12:00 noon, at St. Cecilia's Church, 180 Mechanic St., Leominster. Burial will follow in St. Cecilia's Cemetery.
